About
Daniel Arocha is a violinist, violist, pianist and composer based in New York City. He started his musical studies in Caracas, Venezuela with ‘El Sistema’ (National Network of Youth and Children Orchestras of Venezuela.)
In 2007, he moved to New York City to pursue a bachelors in music performance at The Juilliard School. Daniel has since taught violin and viola all over the United States and has performed at large concert venues including House Of Blues, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. He later completed a Master’s in Music Technology from New York University in 2022.
Fascinated by electronic music, pop, house, classic jazz, film scores and classical music; Daniel merges all these influences into his compositions - resulting in works that can be described as cinematic, instrumental and electroacoustic. He uses instruments and song structures that are traditional to classical music but garnishes them with the use of synthetic sounds that speak to the 21st Century listener.
Daniel’s debut album ‘Synthetic Sun’ is a synesthetic journey, inspired by New York City’s vibrancy and cultural diversity. All eleven tracks are assigned a color palette based on the frequency of the key they are in. For example: ‘Womb’,’Morning Dew’ and ‘Midnight Lasagna’ are paired with cool colors like blue, green and purple and evoke calmer; ethereal feels, while ‘Here’ and ‘Retrokid’ depict the warmer hues of yellow and red with more ironic melodies and uptempo rhythms.
The exploration of the relationship between sound and color, make Synthetic Sun a voyage through a sonic prism, targeting a wide gamut of emotions that makes it a dynamic experience for the listener.
Daniel is currently working as an AV engineer all across New York and the New England region.
